Durbar Square

The word durbar means palace and this is the place where the city’s kings were once crowned and legitimized, and from where they ruled .
Although the king no longer lives here the square still remains the traditional heart of the old town and Kathmandu’s most spectacular legacy of traditional architecture.The spectacular architecture and vividly showcases the skills of the Newar artists and craftsmen over several centuries and quiet rightly is a UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
